I see the world in a different perspective
Born in Appin NSW Australia in 1976, I grew up in country New South Wales and from a young age, I was very artistic with a background in airbrush painting and graphic design. Whilst I was doing graphic design I was using stock imagery and decided I could produce better stock images on my own so I bought my first Nikon D3100 and that was the start of a beautiful love affair with photography and I haven’t looked back since 2008. I now see the World through the Lens since moving to Cairns.
I love capturing the image and creating a photo that is full of life, colour and depicts the story through the lens, and I see the finished product before I click the photo. I spend my spare time exploring the surrounding areas of Cairns and scouting locations for photo shoots as I enjoy nature as my backdrop for photos, and using the natural lighting to create a photo that depicts Far North Queensland at its best.
I created the ‘Cairns Photography’ Facebook page to establish a social network of photographers in Cairns. The page has over 5200 members (2018). I run weekly theme’s, group events and outings and it showcases Cairns by many local photographers.
I also run ‘Your World My Lens Photography Courses’ teaching people how to use their camera and all aspects of photography.
Now the hard, part pulling my own chain… I have been published around the world in magazines and newspapers and have won many notable awards such as the Nikon My Life Photo Challenge, the Port Douglas Magazine Photo Competition numerous times, and have also published by the ABC Far North. I also like to donate some of my time to the community photographing charity events.
