Oribin House
Places of Significance - Cairns Regional Council

This house, designed by the architect Eddie Oribin in 1958 for his own use, was so innovative and unusual that it increased public interest in modern architecture and inspired other buildings. As such, it has historical significance at the regional level for its role in the development of Far North Queensland. The EH Oribin Award for Far North Queensland Building of the Year was established by the Royal Australian Institute of Architects in 2000 in recognition of Oribin's contribution to the built environment.
