Former Queens Hotel
Places of Significance - Cairns Regional Council

The Great Northern hotel is locally significant as an early Gordonvale Hotel, with many of the other early hotels being destroyed by fire, and being rebuilt or decommissioned and altered for another purpose. This architect designed building has survived although with a number of alterations made since its original construction in circa 1912. This hotel is of significance as one of the earliest buildings in the town and an almost continuous provider of accommodation for travellers and itinerant mill workers.
