The Cairns Historical Society makes the history of Far North Queensland accessible for current and future generations.
The Society is the custodian of a large collection of documents, photographs, maps, journals, objects, newspapers and ephemera donated by the people of Far North Queensland. The collection has been assessed as nationally significant.
The Society shares its collection through the Cairns Museum and through a public local history Research Centre. We also host local history talks, history tours and socials history themed exhibitions.
You are welcome to come and visit. You can also join the Society and stay in touch with our program of activities.
We are located with the Cairns Museum in the School of Arts Building, on the corner of Lake and Shields Streets, in the heart of Cairns city.
