This mosaic depicts the Creation of Darrugan or Walsh's Pyramid. The Aboriginal creation story of the 922m peak known locally as 'The Pyramid', tells of two ancestral beings, who were part human and part scrub hen. The pair made a nest for their young (the pyramid shaped mountain). The female died. The tears and urine shed by the male in his despair formed the Mulgrave River which flows at the base of the mountain.
This mosaic was installed as part of the Friends of Gordonvale 1991-1999 project.
