The building is of local significance as one of a group of buildings completed in the town of around the mid-1920s, when a number of premises were redeveloped into concrete after cyclones and fires. The building is a contributor and holds the corner position to a line of similar aged buildings that make up the west side of what is the civic precinct of Gordonvale.
